What is auram?
Auram is a collection of one-of-a-kind fine jewelry hand fabricated by Chicago based jeweler Maura Dolphin (née Lenahan).
Why auram?
'Auram' is a misspelling of the Latin word for gold 'Aurum' using the letters of the designer/maker/founder's name 'Maura'.
About Maura
Maura Dolphin has a BFA in Metals and Jewelry from the Savannah College of Art and Design and was a CFDA+ graduate in 2014.
While making her senior thesis collection, she started experimenting with piercing square wire to fabricate prong settings and has been exploring the possibilities that method allows ever since.
After completing her studies, Dolphin spent several years as a designer for an NYC based fashion jewelry brand before returning to her native Chicago to apply her market experience to a line of studio jewelry that reflects her love of hand craftsmanship.
Each of her pieces is hand fabricated using traditional soldering, finishing, and stone setting techniques by the artist in her Chicago studio using recycled gold and ethically sourced stones.

Currently, the artist divides her time between a jeweler's bench and Sailor in Chicago, IL.
