what is auram?

auram is a collection of one-of-a-kind fine jewelry and metal objects hand fabricated by Chicago based jeweler Maura Dolphin (née Lenahan).

why auram?

'auram' is a misspelling of the Latin word for gold 'aurum' and an anagram of Maura, the designer/maker's name.

about Maura

While earning her BFA in metals and jewelry from the Savannah College of Art and Design, she began piercing square wire to fabricate prong settings and has been exploring the possibilities that method allows ever since.

After college, she spent several years designing for a NYC jewelry brand before returning to Chicago to create a line of jewelry that reflects her taste for antique methods and craftsmanship. During the 2020 lockdown, she learned to write code and currently divides her time as a software developer and jeweler in her home office and studio on the north side of Chicago.

Each piece is hand fabricated using traditional soldering and stone setting techniques using recycled metals and ethically sourced gems.

Currently, auram can be found at Gallery 2052,  Sailor, and The Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, IL.
